NBC Bay Area / KNTV and Telemundo 48 Area de la Bahia / KSTS announced the return of their popular pet adoption campaign Clear The Shelters™. On August 17, participating organizations will offer low cost or waived pet adoption fees to help families adopt a pet.

Last year, NBCUniversal Owned Television Stations’ Clear The Shelters campaign resulted in pets of all types finding new homes. In Berkeley, a dog named Holly who grew up on the streets of Puerto Rico and was later displaced by Hurricane Irma found her forever home with a UC Berkeley professor. At Animal Rescue Foundation, a shelter in Walnut Creek, many pets who were rescued from North Bay wildfires were able to find new families and homes. Since 2015, more than 13,700 pets from the Bay Area have found new homes as part of the stations’ Clear The Shelters™ initiative.
