Adoptable Senior Dog of the Week: Coco Puddin'

Meet the sweetest little dog available for adoption. She's looking for a new home after her person passed away.

coco-pudding-2181

Coco Pudding is her name and she's a darling lil' dumpling. She is so darn cute and squeezable! We love her and she just arrived!! She is the perfect Chihuahua blend in the form of a cuddle monster.

Coco Pudding's guardian passed away and she is ready to find someone to give all of her love to! Her ultimate goal is person that she can cuddle up with and be their walking buddy, too.

Coco Pudding is great on a leash and loves everyone she meets! We think she's about 11 years young and only 7 pounds.

Come meet her at Muttville!

Guess this means I'm more than a napkin to my dog

Throughout the day my dog will either poke her snout or wipe her eyes on some part of my body. When we first adopted her, I thought it was her clumsy way of playing. She's a big girl and was never that coordinated. Years later, as she lost her vision, I imagined she was using me as her guidepost. Tapping her wet nose on my leg as she navigated the hallway. Now according to a new study, it might be something a little more than my pant leg being a substitute for a paper towel or sensory beacon.

[Not so] Secret recipe for a happy life with an older dog

There is no secret to happiness, or a happy life with an older dog. Happiness is a choice. Deciding to create and build a happy life with an older dog is also a choice. After her diabetes diagnosis, I chose to find positive life lessons. As Cleo lost her eyesight, I learned that focusing on the joy of our day-to-day life today is better than giving in to anticipatory grief. I chose the red pill and our life together is the better for it.

You probably know about chocolate being toxic to your dog but what about that mulch you're thinking about? How about that pack of sugar-free gum next to the phone or that Jade plant by the front door? You may be surprised by what we've found [...]
