Hello humans, Calvin here! This month, I'm doing a Q&A with a serene basenji mix named Jelly. Rescued by Muttville Senior Dog Rescue, Jelly is living in a foster home while searching for her forever person. At 20 pounds, she is slim and petite, with tan and black fur like a tiny german shepherd.

Calvin: Hi, Jelly! Welcome to your interview. I’m having coffee. Can I get you some?

Jelly: I’ll have herbal tea, thanks.

Calvin: Of course. No wonder you are so mellow, Jelly!

Let’s start with a little background... Folks are always curious how sweet dogs like you end up homeless - what is your story?

Jelly: I lived with one person my whole life. When she passed away, I had nowhere to go. That’s why I am so grateful for Muttville Senior Dog Rescue - they took me in and are caring for me until the right person comes along to love me in my golden years. I do miss my person, but I’m ready for a new companion.

Calvin: Yeah, you deserve to spend your golden years in a happy home, Jelly. For a 12 year old, you sure look young. What’s your secret?

Jelly: Thanks! My youthful look is thanks to short walks and a monthly appointment at the beauty parlor to keep my short hair stylish.

Calvin: How do you imagine your new home?

Jelly: I just want a home with a warm bed and love - I’ll bring the serenity and mellow energy. I want to relax and share the good life with a kind human.

Calvin: You deserve that, Jelly! Now fill in the blanks:

  • What do you like Best about Yourself: My soulful eyes

  • What would you Change about Yourself if you Could: Loosen up my stiff back legs

  • Best Friend: I lost my best friend. Looking for a new one!

  • Favorite Food: Steak and baked potato

  • Best Place to Nap: A pile of warm, clean laundry fresh from the dryer

  • Most Likely To: Make a deep connection with you

  • Biggest Pet Peeve: Hyper dogs. I try not to judge, but please! chill out.

Calvin: Jelly - thanks for this revealing interview.

Jelly: You’re welcome, Calvin. You know, you aren’t as obnoxious as people say...

Calvin: Umm, thanks. Folks can read your Muttville profile here, then arrange to meet you to look into your soulful eyes in person!
