Auburn-Washburn Unified School District 437’s newest staff member isn’t one you might expect. This one walks on all fours.
Starting this week, Sully, a shih tzu poodle mix and certified pet therapy dog, will be tagging along with her handler, Keli Van Camp, to Pauline South Intermediate School each day.
At its meeting Monday, the USD 437 school board approved Sully to join the Pauline South team, where the 14-month-old dog will serve students with behavioral needs. Van Camp, a special education teacher in her fourth year in the district, said therapy dogs can help some students to form trusting relationships.

i was so amazed by the shih tzu puppy which is only a 4-month old puppy serving students with behavioral needs.
